ATM Profile

Airports Fiji Limited (AFL) is a major Air Navigation Service Provider in the South Pacific interfacing with its counterparts- USA in the North, with Australia to the West and South West, and New Zealand to the East and South. The Nadi Flight Information Region (FIR) includes  the air spaces of Fiji, Tuvalu, New Caledonia, Kiribati and Vanuatu covering a 6.0 million square kilometer area. 

ATM is a core business of AFL and offers the following services to all aircrafts transiting through the Nadi FIR.

• Air Traffic Control and Navigation Services
• Aeronautical Information Services
• Search and Rescue Services
• Flight Information Services

The ATM operations have been contracted to Strategic Air Services Ltd (SASL) since April 1999.

AFL provides the above services in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standard and Recommended Practices, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies manned by a professional and dedicated team. Civil Aviation Authority of the Fiji Islands (CAAFI), the industry regulator in Fiji, ensures these services are efficient and safe for the traveling public.

AFL recognizes that the commercial development potential of the region is very reliant on the integrity and quality of its services, and is therefore continually striving to meet its obligations to all  stakeholders of the ATM business.

Close to $5m has been budgeted in 2006 for the development of the Nadi & Nausori Control Towers. See Media Release
